Spring has almost arrived, so here are a couple of plants to start putting you in the spirit. First is an unusual little begonia, Begonia bipinnatifida (Fern Leaf Begonia), a native of the rainforests of Indonesia and New Guinea. This begonia is perfect for terrariums due to its high humidity requirements and small size (8-12 inches tall). It bears an uncanny resemblance to our next plant, Selaginella erythropus 'Sanguinea', Red Club Moss, which is now back in stock.

Fall is here and some of our deciduous plants are starting to slip into their Winter sleep. These will become available again in the Spring. Those which go through a Winter dormant period are noted in our plant pages. Meanwhile, others such as the Ludisia Jewel Orchids will soon start to bloom with their fragrant flowers.

We have a new orchid ready to go: Paphinia cristata. This orchid species is a native of the rain forests of Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. Small growing, it is ideal for a tropical terrarium and would also make an excellent addition to a dart frog vivarium since they inhabit the same region.

Also available is another interesting Dischidia: Dischidia bengalensis a native of SE Asia. Great for mounting or to cover a back wall in a terrarium.
